KARATE: Balance Your Yin With Yang!

Karate gave me permission today to growl with glee, literally!   Most healthy expression of anger available.  If you have been feeling even the slightest bit angry due to situations seemingly outside of your control, I believe Karate will give you back your power!   Karate can be one of the healthiest things you could EVER do!

“Disease, today, tends to mean that one has become too yin.”  Article HERE.  Developed or have cancer?  Means you have too much Yin.

I have come to the conclusion, that Karate is the building block to personal power, ESPECIALLY for women.  Karate is how to balance receptive (feminine energy) with active (male) energy, yin with yang.

I know we had women’s lib during the 60’s, but women still strive to look nice, wink twice to entice others to bring them what they want.  Women smile to attract.  They don’t growl to attack.

Karate gave me permission to growl and attack, literally!  During the session today I was told to growl repeatedly.  My growling was a good thing. AND it felt great.

It felt so wonderful to grunt, to punch and to kick.  I was given permission to be active energy, balancing my creative, intuitive, receptive feminine energy.  No wonder the sign for Karate is Yin Yang.  Karate balances power!

So I arrived at the Doji where I was greeted by the teacher in a white Gi (Karate uniform) and black belt.  I was fascinated, but not yet not “getting” the impact this practice would have on me.

After a few girlish whining complaints, I was told to be quiet.  Karate is about discipline.  No wales allowed for the weary.  Finally I settled into the structured kicks and punches.  As I took off into each movement, I began to flow.

As I disappeared into the practice, something within me took over.  It was a ferocity I had held inside for too long.  I did not know I had been aching to express it, until I did.

Now, ah now, I had an achievable, acceptable, constructive and spiritual way to express my natural feisty, fierce and spirited nature.  As I practiced the movements I became moved by their power to activate my strength.

We hear a lot about strength, but I had never experienced this type of power before.  It was deliberate, disciplined, GOOD.  I was told I was doing an excellent job while I had a terrific time punching and kicking into my imaginary opponent.

Wow!  Who would have ever thought I was missing martial artistry all my life?  Who would have ever thought I needed to punch and kick with real ferocity to feel complete.

But I did.

I recommend all women practice this.  Karate will let out the complete woman in you, the fighter, hunter, temptress, leader.  I feel it is necessary for me.  I will continue it.
