MANIFESTING MONEY: Is It Wrong?

MANIFESTING MONEY:  Is It Wrong?

The other day I received this email from someone who found my website.  She raises some fascinating points about about using your spiritual gifts to attain money.  Read her comments and then my response below.

“Hi Laura,

How are you? I came across your website in my search for an
answer to a troubling question. I am writing from New Zealand and I am
desperately trying to get some answers to a spiritual question I have that
is troubling me.

I am sorry if I am bothering you but I hope you will help me. This is my
question: Would it be wrong of me to use my psychic abilities to win some
money that I desperately need in my life at the moment. I am not able
to get a loan from any financial institution and the interest rates in NZ
are unbelievable. I am particularly good at picking out the winning numbers.
Some ten years ago, I found out that I could do this and I won quite a good
sum of money but I felt so guilty about it that I vowed never to do it again as
I felt it was not the ethical thing to do. I would not feel good charging someone
for healing and if I had been a gifted reader in this lifetime, I would only charge
for my time. This is how I feel where psychic abilities are concerned.

After I came to NZ, my life was thrown into chaos and I desperately needed
money to help me out of the situation as I could not work for a long time. So I started delving into these numbers again and consulted a lot of psychics to ask whether I would be doing the right thing by getting money in this way. Only one of them was able to tell me that it was a gift from the Universe to help me get out of a bad situation. I have told the Universe that I will pay back whatever money I win if that it is what the Universe wanted me to do and I felt okay about the whole thing until I watched Dannion Brinkley’s ‘Saved by the Light’ on youtube yesterday. And he tells someone in the movie that you have to account for every cent won in this way and I felt totally bad about the whole thing right away. And I am feeling really confused now. I need some spiritual advice desperately as the whole thing is bothering me now.

I hope you would be able to help me. What would a higher being advice human beings in such a situation? I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you so much.

Regards,
Nazeema”

MANIFESTING MONEY:  Is It Wrong?  Here is what I wrote back:

“I think you might be a bit mixed up about money and perhaps even Dannion Brinkley’s words.

There is nothing wrong with being paid to be a healer, as it is a service from gifts, an exchange of effort or energy.  People need to be paid for using their gifts whatever the gifts.

Accordingly, there is nothing wrong with winning a lottery if you have the gift and then spent energy to tune in to get the numbers.  You need the money.  What is wrong with that?

All things in universe are an exchange of energy.  You have to give to get.  This is called the Spiritual Law of Reciprocity.

Also this issue brings to light the Spiritual Law of Dharma, that we are supposed to use our gifts in service to others and be rewarded in return with sustenance.  Deepak Chopra speaks about this law and its importance in his book on 7 Spiritual Laws to Success.

I hope this is helpful to all that read this.  Using gifts to obtain money is not a sin.  It is a law of nature.

I believe it is a sin not to use one’s gifts to prosper.”
