Sleep Less to Have MORE Energy.  Who would have thought that sleeping less could be a monumental step in your healing to happiness?

The Problem.

I have very little energy, but I sleep as much as I like.  Last week I had two nights in a row where I slept 10 hours each night!

Ten hours!

The next day after each of these days I felt great.  I was buzzing all around, incredibly efficient and profoundly productive.

But then on the third night after all of this sleep indulgence I could not sleep.  This has happened to me over and over again.

I get really tired.  I sleep a lot.  Then I can’t sleep and feel awful.  My mind is foggy.  I can’t hardly function.

It is like an energy roller coaster.

As this condition continued I began to have this intuitive feeling that sleeping less might INCREASE my energy.

Perhaps spirit was trying to help me improve my productivity and pleasure in life because after having this feeling, I happened across a youtube.com video which basically illustrated this.

It shows how someone tried for two weeks to cut his sleeping time to only four hours a night with two thirty minute naps per day.

At first he felt L-O-U-S-Y for the first 3 to 4 days.  Then something miraculous happened.  He snapped into this sort of highly productive, super human being.

I’m all for that.

Other Stories of Those Who Sleep Less But Seem to Have More Energy

My Brother In Law

My brother in law is 80 years old, looks 50 years old with all the energy to go with it.   Uncannily he sleeps just about five hours a night, with a short nap in the afternoon.

He is currently in the process of renovating his house with my sister after doing about 15 houses before this in the last 15 years!

He does most of the construction work himself.  As well, he is a highly skilled ballroom, Latin dancer and gets out with my sister at least two night a week to exercise this hobby.

Famous People Who Sleep Less

Nikola Tesla got a legendary 1.5 – 2 hours of sleep a night.  Leonardo DaVinci only slept for 20 minutes every four hours per day.  Thomas Edison thought that sleep was a complete waste of time and he, like DaVinci napped for 30 minutes 6 times per day.

Jack Dorsey, founder of Twitter and Square, works 8 to 10 hours per day for each company and gets up at 5:30am to run.  That leaves little time each day for sleeping, eating, bathing, and so on.

Indra Nooyi, CEO Pepsico, sleeps about 4 hours a night.  She worked her way through Yale business school by working as a receptionist at night.

Jeff Emmett, former CEO of GE, sleeps only 5 hours a night.

When you think about it, this does make sense.  How can someone who sleeps 10 to 12 hours a night compete with someone who sleeps half that amount?

My Theory

I think that the body in its infinite wisdom will utilize sleep more efficiently if it has less time at it.  This is sort of like exercise.

You can exercise intensely for 30 minutes a day or leisurely for 2 hours a day.

If you are a person that wants to get more out of life, more money, more accomplishment and more HEALING to HAPPINESS then sleeping more efficiently seems to be something you need to incorporate into your life.

My Plan

I am going to set aside five to six hours for sleep a night.    Then during the day I will take a 30 minute nap as needed.

I will use an alarm clock until I adjust to this sleep habit.

I hope this new attitude will improve my energy, alertness, productivity and enjoyment of life.

Channeling on Sleep by the Ones

Dear Spirit Guides what do you have to say about sleep for humans?    Do humans really need 8 hours of sleep a night?

Sleep is not needed by humans as much as they think it is.  Sleep is the part of your life where you are detoxing.

So if you are not detoxing during waking hours you will need more sleep. 

How do you detox your life? 

Live the life you want to live.

If you are unhappy you will find you will need more sleep, but actually get less rest.

Sleep is needed to recharge the subconscious so that living is better during the day.

If you have very few conflicts about yourself and your life you will find you have more energy during waking hours and need less sleep during sleeping time.

Those that sleep a lot are not happy, and really need less sleep then they think.

So next time you feel tired ask yourself what else besides sleep do you want.  You will surprised to hear yourself say you want something other than sleep.

These recharging sources could mean, more time in the sun, more time having fun, more time out with friends, more time with a loved one, etc.

Sleep is not all about rest.

It can be all about refusal to live your life to its fullest.  If this is the case you will find your energy level is low during waking hours even though you had enough sleep.

We as your guides say that love is the answer to all things including sleep. 

When you love enough during waking hours, you will find you will sleep less.  The reason is your hormones are filled with the endorphins that give you energy.

Conclusion

Wow.  OK.  So it is a circle.

If you sleep less as the first step in this cycle, you will find you have more energy, be more productive, alert and efficient.

This in turn can help you live the life you love.

You have to find what step in the LOVE to LIVE merry go round you can enter to move from HEALING to HAPPINESS.  At times a session with spirit can be helpful.
