It was a difficult time in Stacy’s life. She had lost her relationship, her job and now her home was sliding into foreclosure. As she tried to pry loose from these disasters her life only seemed to get worse.
When she was younger a problem was only a temporary event in her life. However, no matter what she did now it seemed the difficulties that confronted her only seemed to worsen. The more she struggled the more she sank.
Monday morning arrived. She began her usual fight at the computer to apply for jobs online. Her efforts had been fruitless for the last six months. She was beginning to get desperate. Her heart sank as she read each advertisement.
A moment of clarity was needed. Although, she hated the work she used to do, income was needed. Perhaps she was the cause of the problem.
Since all her efforts were fruitless, she decided this morning she would go out and take a walk. As she walked down the road she saw a little worm. The worm was wreathing and struggling on the pavement. She realized the worm would dry out unless it was placed back on the soil. She lifted it there.
As she did this she had a tremendous insight. Her life was like that little worm wreathing out of its soil. She realized to thrive you have to be in the environment in which you can thrive. She decided she was going to start to search for her soil.
One of Stacy’s earliest memories is drawing on the wall of her bedroom with crayons. Her talent for art was evident through out her teen years. However, when she entered college she decided accounting would be a more practical choice.
Her day was already unproductive. Stacy decided it might be therapeutic to take her sketch pad with her into town and have lunch at the local cafe. Her enthusiasm was obvious as she quickly changed her clothes and got ready to leave.
She was a little shocked, but a man sitting with a little girl at the next table asked if she would sketch them. He wanted a gift for his daughter and was willing to pay. She finished it quickly with skill, accepting the modest token of appreciation in payment. Before she was finished another person asked for a sketch. Between assignments she continued to draw her surroundings. Several of those drawings sold. When a young girl asked if she taught art lessons, she was hooked.
When Christine got home later in the day, she realized she had taken a modest step that day to form a new career for herself. The money she had made that day excited her, giving her a feeling of success and hope.
Even if she wanted to be more practical the cafe and other public locations drew her there regularly. From each outing she got new clients, students for classes and an offer to do a project for the town, her sketches of it for an exhibit. The work she loved began to take on a regularity and sustenance to it which was practical.
As she entered her soil, she began to find her life, her path. If you have a talent you have denied and your life is not working, this is a sign from your soul to begin your work now. The work you love. From this one little step you will be led to the next step until finally you are on your abundant path.
