What’s in the (tarot) cards for Heat?

 

Psychic Diana of Coral Springs predicts no championship for the Miami Heat.

They may not be the biggest Miami Heat fans, but they have a pretty strong “feeling” who will be crowned champions of the NBA Finals.

Local psychics offered us their predictions ahead of Sunday’s game — taking to their tarot cards, losing themselves in meditation or simply relying on their gut feeling. 

But they don’t all foresee the same thing.

“Miami is going to win by a large margin Sunday,” said psychic medium Laura Mendelsohn, of Delray Beach, after taking a couple minutes to put herself in an altered state of mind. “And I have the Heat down as the overall champs.”

But don’t ask her to name some players or say who won last year’s title — “I’m kind of dumb when it comes to sports,” she admits. At least you can’t call her biased. “The less I know the more accurate I am because I’m not influenced,” said Mendelsohn, 59.

Veronica Bedford, meanwhile, is an avid Miami Dolphins fan and a 40-year practicing psychic. Basketball is “not one of the sports I like but I started watching it since the playoffs with my husband,” said Bedford, 56, of Coral Springs, who admits she jumped on the Heat bandwagon this year.

She was quick to assert the outcome: “They’re going to lose this one [Sunday] and win the next two. Honestly, it’s going to be a very close game. It’s going to go back and forth, very tense.”

She went so far as to detail the Spurs’ win Sunday – a 9 to 10 point win, with shooting guard Danny Green leading the team to victory. “He’s going to be the standout.”

She says she makes her predications based on visions. And she foresees a Game 7 final with “a lot of Heat fans being so excited, everybody yelling and screaming. I see everybody high fiving, the energy is really high.”

However, Bedford doesn’t see a trophy.

Neither does Diana (who did not disclose her last name), a consultant with Aralim, a psychic network based in Sunrise.

“I can’t see a win,” said Diana, also of Coral Springs. “I want to say yes, but my instincts are telling me it doesn’t look very good.”

Sunday’s game will be close, she said, and if the Heat win, it’ll be by just a slim margin.

Dwyane Wade, on the other hand, will be “mad during the game,” she said as she pulled out a tarot card emblazoned with a burning building. “He’s just not going to be happy.”

She predicted even more bad news: a possible injury for LeBron James.

“I’m worried about LeBron Sunday,” she said. “I’m worried about him getting injured … he’ll be a little bit out of sorts for some reason.”

Though she said she’s right 98.4 percent of the time, Diana is not thrilled with her prediction and is still praying for a Heat win.

“People can hear this and say ‘forget her and I’m going to prove her wrong.’ God bless you, I hope you do!”
