Afterlife Visitations: My Mother, My Cat, My Grandfather

After my mother transitioned during my sleep I was suddenly awakened by a lucid vision of my mother approaching me to say how much she loved me. As soon as I realized what what happening, that this was not an ordinary dream, she disappeared.

I had a similar experience with my cat. She suddenly died due to am embolism to her heart.

The next morning I was awakened by her meowing a scream at me in perfect astral form. As soon as I recognized what was happening she disappeared in a flash.

Come to think of it my father had a similar experience when he was only 17 years old. He had left his family in Italy to escape being drafted into Mussolini’s army at the beginning of World War II.

Living with some friends of his family in Manhattan, he was awakened during the night. His father stood in astral form at the foot of his bed saying, “Good bye.”

The next morning he found out his father had passed away during the night of a massive, unexpected heart attack.

There are ways to explore the after life directly, rather than having a random “lucid dream,” or “out of body” experience.

William Buhlman was one of the primary Out of Body teachers at the Monroe Institute This article goes into his exciting book, “Adventures in the Afterlife,” summarizing some of the key concepts of his research about the afterlife during his out of body experiences.

These ideas are followed by some resources below.

William Buhlman, What Is The Afterlife Like?

William Buhlman, a renowned expert on out-of-body experiences (OBEs) and the afterlife, offers a compelling perspective on what the afterlife entails in his influential book, “Adventures in the Afterlife“.

Drawing from decades of personal exploration and research, Buhlman provides a nuanced view of existence beyond physical death, emphasizing the continuity of consciousness and the expansive nature of the afterlife.

Astral Projection

Buhlman’s approach is grounded in his extensive practice of astral projection, a technique through which individuals intentionally leave their physical bodies to explore other dimensions of reality. His insights into the afterlife are shaped by both his own experiences and those shared by others who have undergone similar explorations.

Central to Buhlman’s perspective is the idea that death is not an end but a transition to a different level of existence where consciousness continues to evolve.

According to Buhlman, the afterlife is a richly layered reality that reflects the consciousness and intentions of the individual. He describes it as a realm where the thoughts, emotions, and beliefs that shaped one’s earthly life continue to influence experiences.

This suggests that the afterlife is not a uniform, monolithic space but a personalized experience that aligns with the individual’s inner state and spiritual growth.

In his view, the afterlife is characterized by a variety of environments and experiences that range from blissful and harmonious to challenging and confrontational. Buhlman emphasizes that these experiences are closely tied to one’s spiritual development and understanding.

Those who have led lives of kindness and compassion may find themselves in more uplifting and harmonious environments, while those who have unresolved issues or negative tendencies may encounter more difficult conditions.

This reflects the principle of spiritual evolution, where the afterlife serves as a continuation of the learning process initiated during earthly life.

Soul Groups – What Is The Afterlife Like?

One of Buhlman’s key contributions is his explanation of the concept of “soul groups” or “spirit families.” He suggests that after death, individuals often reunite with souls they have shared significant connections with throughout various lifetimes.

These reunions provide opportunities for deep, meaningful interactions and support as souls transition and reflect on their experiences. This aspect of the afterlife underscores the relational and interconnected nature of existence, where bonds formed on Earth extend into the spiritual realms.

The Life Review

Buhlman also addresses the idea of life reviews, a process where individuals review their earthly experiences from a higher perspective. This review is not about judgment but about understanding and integrating life lessons.

It provides an opportunity for souls to see the impact of their actions on others and to gain insights that contribute to their spiritual growth. This process aligns with Buhlman’s view that the afterlife is a space for continued learning and self-discovery.

His work also highlights the potential for further exploration and growth beyond the initial afterlife experience.

The Afterlife Is A Continuing Life

Buhlman describes the afterlife as a dynamic and evolving journey, where souls can continue to explore new dimensions and undertake new adventures. This perspective suggests that the afterlife is not a static or final state but an ongoing opportunity for spiritual advancement and exploration.

Consciousness Continues

In summary, William Buhlman’s perspective on the afterlife, as articulated in Adventures in the Afterlife, presents a vision of a vibrant, personalized, and evolving realm where consciousness continues to grow and learn.

His insights, derived from personal experience and extensive research, offer a hopeful and expansive view of what lies beyond physical death, emphasizing the continuity of spiritual development and the interconnectedness of all souls.

  1. Thank you Charlotte for sharing about Swendenborg. I have heard of his work, but never studied it. You have inspired me to research his work more and perhaps write an article summarizing some of it.

  2. Swedenborg described all this in great detail over 30 years of soul traveling in the spirit world, waking and sleeping, 1748 -1772. He wrote many books on his conversations and experiences, and was a great spiritual influence in the UK and the US especially despite being Swedish himself. Helen Keller and Henry James are two examples of Swedenborgian.
